StarLight: The Optical STAR TAP
STAR TAP, the Science, Technology And Research Transit Access Point, is a persistent infrastructure to facilitate the long-term interconnection and interoperability of advanced international networking in support of applications, performance measuring and technology evaluations. StarLight, the Optical STAR TAP, is an advanced optical infrastructure and proving ground for lambda-based network services optimized for high-performance applications <see: www.startap.net/starlight>. The presentation will describe the initial offerings of StarLight in 2001, and plans for the years 2002-2005.

StarLight is being developed by the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), the International Center for Advanced Internet Research (iCAIR) at Northwestern University, and the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory, in partnership with CANARIE and SURFnet. STAR TAP is funded by the US National Science Foundation.
